Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is like a fly at a BBQ — he’s constantly buzzing, occasionally touches down, but is rarely anything other than a common and harmless nuisance.

At least that’s how New York Giants guard Will Hernandez views him.

“Why are we all of a sudden worried that he said it?” Hernandez asked, via Newsday. “He’s said so many things before that it’s like, I really don’t care too much about what he says. It doesn’t matter to me.”

Hernandez stopped short of suggesting Lawrence rarely backs up his smack talk, but when presented with the actual numbers by nearby members of the media, the mauling guard ceased biting his tongue.

“There you go,” Hernandez said when it was pointed out Lawrence has just four sacks in nine career games against the Giants. “I pay very little attention to what guys have to say. I’m more worried about what they are going to do. You guys just said that his numbers don’t match it. Should we really be worried about what he has to say?”

Lawrence made waves this week by calling Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones nothing more than a “Little Eli” and suggesting the Cowboys aren’t at all concerned with him under center. And while Hernandez went a little harder than usual, Giants tight end Evan Engram had a more simple, but straightforward message.

“We’ll see him on [Monday],” Engram said. “That’s all I can say.”

The Giants have clearly grown tired of Lawrence’s shtick, but in order to shut him up, New York will have to shut the Cowboys down — something they’ve not been able to do since they last defeated Dallas in 2016.
